Abstract

Today’s world is facing ever-increasing sustainability challenges that include climate change, environmental degradation and social inequalities. In response to these challenges, an increasing number of organisations in various economic sectors are integrating the concept of sustainability into their management strategies. One area where this concept has found application is in product-service systems (PSS).

Product-service systems, or PSS, is an innovative design approach that focuses on combining traditional products with services to deliver end-value to customers. In the context of sustainability, PSS offers promising opportunities to reduce the negative environmental impact of products by extending their lifespan, increasing resource efficiency and promoting service-based consumption patterns.

This article aims to present the concept of sustainability in the context of product and service systems and to analyse the solutions, benefits and challenges associated with the application of PSS in achieving sustainability goals.
