Competency-based human resource management

Contemporarily, the success of an organization depends on a valuable resource, which is an employee altogether with his or her knowledge, aspirations, motivations and talents. Generally speaking, an employee competence makes up a motive power of an organization. The role of competence is still rising, whereas the pace of undergoing changes renders the necessity of its development. The competence development in an organization is a result of an inclination to have one, as well for organizations as for the employees themselves. Organizations aim at having competent employees in order to gain competitive advantage. On the other hand, the employees are interested in the development of their competence counting on the improvement of their own position in a company. Therefore, the competence management is becoming one of the most important tools in personnel management in an organization. The purpose of the article is to present a competency-based model of human resource management on the basis of competence at a small manufacturing and trading company in kujawsko-pomorskie voivodeship.
