The logistics chain in the motor vehicle sector: spare parts supply

Abstract

Logistic chains in the motor vehicle sector may be considered against the background of the entire technical system, its subsystems or selected components and groups of this system. The car servicing sector is characterised by a very high level and variability of the spare parts range, which is a consequence of the variety of motor vehicles and the large number of brands. Logistics here refers to the supply of spare parts for repairs and maintenance materials. Parts logistics is a key driver for any car service. The article explains the concept of the chain of goods and the logistics chain, cites definitions that characterise the logistics chain and the criteria for its division. The logistics supply chain of car spare parts provides an empirical case study.
