The stigmatization of menstruation is an issue often raised by feminist artists and theorists. Their work is accompanied by various forms of activism, selected demands and strategies of which are presented in the text. The goals of menstrual activists have varied over the years: from breaking the taboo surrounding menstruation, changing the language and changing women's attitudes towards menstrual bleeding (and their bodies), through putting pressure on manufacturers of hygiene products, to radically redefining not only our habits, but also the understanding of menstruation, and also – the category of femininity itself. The article analyzes examples of actions, while showing how menstrual activism addresses key issues for the feminist movement.
