Abstract

Domestic shale gas resources open up significant opportunities for the Polish economy. Shale gas may be an opportunity for Poland, but also a serious challenge. Thanks to the analysis of the possibilities of obtaining shale gas in Poland, preceded by its characteristics, assessment of the size of its resources in the country, the impact of shale gas extraction on the development of the Polish economy, the role of shale gas in shaping the country's energy security, the article shows that both the energy raw material and the technology its extraction is significantly related to innovative ways of obtaining energy. The publication analyzes innovative methods of managing the promising shale industry in Poland in the light of European Union legislation.
